The Box - The Box (1st)/All The Time, All The Time, All The Time

This 1985 2-in-1 disc set from Montréal's The Box is a rare double treat, compiling the group's eponymous first album and its equally strong follow-up disc All The Time, All The Time, All The Time.

Founded in 1982 by Jean-Marc Pisapia (briefly a member of Men Without Hats) with Luc Papineau, Guy Pisapia (keyboards), Jean-Pierre Brie (bass) and Guy Florent (guitar), The Box were major players on Canada's New Wave scene, charting numerous hits on classic rock and alternative (then "modern rock") radio, including "Live on TV," "My Dreams of You," "Walk Away," "Must I Always Remember," and the bilingual murder mystery (!) "L'Affaire Dumoutier (Say To Me)."

The band officially went on hiatus after the release of 1990's The Pleasure and the Pain, and sadly, they remained an obscurity outside their native country. A greatest hits collection, Always in Touch With You: The Best of the Box was released in 2003, and the group released a 2005 comeback CD, Black Dog There (streaming samples of tracks available here on the band's official site).

"L'Affaire Dumoutier (Say To Me)" - whose lyrics read like a surreal Quebecois Law and Order episode set to music - is still a Montréal rock radio cult classic:
