Hawkwind - Palace Springs (Live 1991)

The intriguing Palace Springs captures the essence of Hawkwind's science-fiction leanings with thundering jams (and judicious use of "negative space"), spacy violin work from Simon House, and delightful turns at the mic by guest vocalist Bridgett Wishart.

Highlights include the album-exclusive dystopian epic "Treadmill," and the spooky live rendition of "Back in the Box."
"Coming from a band with seemingly a million albums under their belt, this is really one of their best live discs. It captures a great, if quite short, period of the band and does so with a style and texture that really is incredible."
-- Gary Hill, Music Street Journal

"Band leader Dave Brock was taking Hawkwind into the 1990's with a new sound that would see a greater emphasis on the techno/electronica sound mixed with metal overtones. ... Simon House, the boomeranging violinist, seems always to have a positive effect on the band's sound, making it smooth and dreamy."
